Defining Photography (c)

An important part of being a photographer is to communicate your thoughts as to how the image is to read. You must first learn to trust in yourself and show confidence not only on how to communicate verbally, but on the image you project of yourself.

This exercise will not only help us cover an important aspect of the curriculum: Photography - the Art, the Photographer and the Business, but will aid in your ability to communicate your thoughts.

  • You will research primarily on the Internet
  • ONLY ONE PERSON per topic
  • You will produce the work on PowerPoint – all work to be done in class time using the version of software particular to the school
  • The presentation should only be of 8 minutes duration (Max). Not less than 15 slides (1 title, 12 content, 1 questions and 1 work cited), but can be over. Please do not cut and paste – use your own words.
  • Please include a slide indicating the WEB sites you referenced.
  • Please include 2 questions on a slide concerning your subject matter to ask the class.
  • With each topic, I have given reference to sites to assist on starting only – please surf your own.
  • Important: All work must be your own compilation! You will be graded on the content and how it is presented. You must be ready to present when it is your turn.

Some things to include in your presentation:
  • History of the subject (when did it start?)
  • Basic early information of the photographer/subject
  • Show great photo examples to help illustrate your topic
  • Popular photographers if any
  • Equipment that would be used ie) cameras, lenses, specialty items
  • What purpose did the photos serve as (how were they used)?
  • How were they viewed in society (positive/negative)?
  • Your overall thoughts

Remember to craft your presentation in a way that gives the utmost amount of information. Include all the necessary
information and pictures so that your audience gets a good understanding of what your topic is all about.
